# Install Habit

> Install the app, configure your loyalty program, and show points on the storefront.

You can get a working program live in one sitting: install the app, set earn and redeem rates, then enable the storefront widget.

## Install from Shopify

1. Open Habit in the Shopify App Store and click **Install**.
2. Review the permissions, then approve the install.
3. Habit opens inside your Shopify admin. Start a 14-day trial of the Standard plan, or go to **Billing** later.

## Configure your program

Open **Settings** in Habit and set:

| Setting                   | What it controls                                  |
| ------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------- |
| Points per dollar         | How many points a customer earns per \$1 spent    |
| Redemption rate           | How many points equal \$1 off at checkout         |
| Minimum redeemable points | The smallest balance a customer can spend         |
| Max redemption percent    | Caps how much of an order can be paid with points |

Save your changes. Habit syncs these values to the storefront widget and checkout.

## Show points on the storefront

1. In Shopify admin, go to **Online Store → Themes**.
2. Click **Customize** on your live theme.
3. Open **App embeds** and enable the Habit points widget.
4. Save the theme.

Customers who are signed in can then see their balance without editing theme code.
